Sometimes, I'm a writer.

Growing up I always said I wanted to be an author. I think that's harder and harder for me to say with confidence as I get older. It's scarier now that it's more real; it gets more and more daunting. But I still love to write. I still love to create and tell stories, and I still think of them all to get myself to fall asleep most nights. I miss the days when there was anonimity to writing, a lack of social media pressures, and when you could send short stories to magazines in the hopes they might think you good enough to publish them. In some ways, self-publishing means the industry is more open and diverse than ever, but I find it more difficult and suffocating somehow too. Perhaps you understand, perhaps you don't. All the same, seeing how many people here share their writing made me happy and inspired so here's some of mine too. Hopefully the collection grows. Hopefully I'm less daunted, less picky. It's less polished maybe, but it's mine, and now it's yours, and that's special too.

The genre I love most to write is romance. It's the genre that rekindled my love for reading in the first place, and I am, of course, heavily influenced by fanfiction I read a lot too. My romances usually have themes of not feeling good enough for another person. I also delight in making my characters go through a lot of angst before they get their happily ever after, but I do require a happily ever after. I'm too weak-hearted for sad endings. Outside of romance, I don't enjoy to write contemporary works very much. I enjoy things set in the past, future, or fantasy worlds. I hope to write some original sci-fi short stories in particular here, because that's a genre I'd love to stretch into as I'm newly gaining interest in it. Another thing I'd like to do more in my works is nonsensical/illogical magic. I think there's a unique beautiful whimsy to works that don't try to explain things that is rarely touched on now. In part that's because readers want those answers so maybe I'm a touch stupid to try adding it into my works, but... well. So I am.
